Landscapes conservation and restoration

Centuries of environmental degradation and climate stress have eroded ecosystems. We address this by contributing innovative methods for conservation and restoration to safeguard biodiversity and create resilient landscapes.

Our goal is to establish a global benchmark for landscape conservation and restoration by understanding and safeguarding environments shaped over millennia of complex socio-ecological interactions.

  • Innovating conservation planning: We develop and implement advanced strategies to protect and restore Tasmania’s rich biodiversity and geodiversity.
  • Addressing land degradation: We restore landscapes impacted by centuries of colonisation through evidence-based interventions.
  • Driving interdisciplinary approaches: We integrate our strengths in physical and human geography, spatial sciences, and planning to pioneer leading methodologies, inform policy, and mentor future leaders who will shape resilient landscapes locally and globally.
