A Specialisation is an area of focus in your degree. During your studies, you’ll choose an area that interests you, and then study a group of units related to that area.
This specialisation covers the basics of Industry 4.0 digital fabrication, with a focus on safety, quality, speed, and cost. Activities include CAD modelling, additive manufacturing, and working with various materials. You’ll learn to use design tools, explore sensor principles, and gain practical skills in deployment and data transfer. Case studies will enhance your understanding of industry standards and the challenges of sensor network design. Finally, you’ll develop self-awareness and decision-making skills to effectively leverage Industry 4.0 for greater efficiency and innovation.
The Cyber Security stream is designed for people passionate about safeguarding digital systems and information from potential threats. This specialised stream delves into the details of cyber security, equipping you with the knowledge and skills necessary to protect against cyber attacks and ensure data confidentiality, integrity, and availability. You'll be engaged in real-world case studies and projects that provide you with valuable experience in issues that the cyber security industry faces daily.
The Extractive Industries specialisation is not offered for semester 2, 2025.
In this specialisation, you’ll explore Earth's highest peaks and deepest ocean depths to understand the forces shaping our world today. You’ll master fundamental spatial concepts, learn to represent diverse variables spatially, and perform basic data analysis and visualisation—essential skills applicable across various disciplines.
The Fermentation specialisation is not offered in semester 2, 2025.
You’ll explore the essential steps involved in commercial fermentation production. Topics include process design, optimisation, scale-up, manufacturing operations (such as cleaning, sterilisation, and substrate preparation), inoculum development, fermentation control, product recovery, and waste treatment.
This specialisation provides you with a comprehensive understanding of the ICT industry, covering various topics such as professional roles, ethical conduct, legal obligations, entrepreneurship, security, communication skills, and programming concepts in Java and C languages.
The Sustainable Business specialisation is not offered in semester 2, 2025.
This specialisation equips you with the skills to address sustainability-related challenges in an increasingly socially and environmentally conscious business climate. It prepares you to enter or advance in fields such as socially responsible investment, business continuity, and governance and assurance.
