Join the Menzies Institute for Medical Research this August for a free public talk featuring three of their leading researchers: Professor Seana Gall, Professor Michele Callisaya, and Dr Rosie Clark.

They will share their latest discoveries in heart and brain health, offering new insights into Stroke, Parkinson’s Disease, Dementia, and Motor Neuron Disease.

About the leading researchers:

Professor Seana Gall is a cardiovascular epidemiologist whose research focuses on preventing heart attacks and strokes. Based in Hobart since 2008, Seana brings a deep understanding of the health challenges faced by regional communities. Her work explores the causes of cardiovascular disease and tests new prevention strategies—including mobile apps and online tools to help people live healthier lives

Professor Michele Callisaya is a leading researcher and physiotherapist dedicated to improving the lives of people living with dementia, stroke, Parkinson's disease and other neurological conditions. Michele leads a national project focused on making rehabilitation more accessible and effective for people with dementia. With decades of clinical and research experience, she's passionate about helping older Tasmanians stay independent and well for longer.

Dr Rosie Clark is a neuroscientist with her research focusing on understanding and treating motor neuron disease (MND), particularly how certain nerve cells contribute to neurodegeneration. Originally from Northern Tasmania, Rosie has published widely and presented at major scientific conferences. She was awarded the prestigious Bill Gole MND Research Fellowship and is currently developing potential treatments to help slow disease progression in people living with MND.
